Acorn dental training is a London based company who provide a variety of courses to the dental industry.  We aim to provide courses that are simple to understand, easy to learn and comprehensive, so you will have no worries when it comes to examination days.

Our dental nursing courses are structured around you, the student.  We understand that many of you will be working long hard hours in central London and have limited time, so we hold our courses in a central location that is easy to get to, and at hours that are convenient for you. Our tutor will provide 1:1 tutorials and revision sessions prior to your examination, making sure you are fully prepared.

Dental Nurses are now required by law to be registered with the GDC (General Dental Council) in order to work in England.  If you are registered on one of our nursing courses, you may still work in a dental practice as a trainee.  Once you have passed and are registered with the GDC you will notice the benefits.  GDC registered nurses gain increased job satisfaction as a trained professional, as well as a higher salary.  

There are many avenues that dental education can take you down once you have passed your nursing certificate, such as: radiography, sedation, hygiene, oral health and orthodontic nursing.

Certificate Course of the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN)

When:  The next course is scheduled to begin on 17th March 2010 and will run each Wednesday night.

Where:  Our classroom is situated in central London near to Euston station.

What if I can't make it in the week?:  We are looking into starting a course that will run on Saturdays in the near future.

Aim:  Our Acorn National Certificate course prepares candidates for the National Certificate examination set by the NEBDN

Length of Study: From 12 months for the experienced dental nurse, and then up to 2 academic years for the beginner.

Entry Requirements: A good level of written and spoken English is required, and candidates will sit a short basic English skills test with us at the interview stage.

Contents:  The syllabus of the NEBDN Certificate includes: Health & Safety Procedures Provide Chair Side Support during Assessment & Dental Treatments Protect Oral Health Produce Dental X-Rays Personal Development

Study Method:  The course will be Wednesday night from 6pm till 9pm. The course takes place in central London, nr Euston station. The address is Quantum House, 66 Churchway, London NW1 1LT (free tea and biscuits included)

Assessment:  At the end of our lessons there will be a variety of assessment tasks, which will include mock exams throughout the course to fully prepare the student for the exam.

Extra info: In order to receive the award of the National Certificate from the NEBDN, on completion of the training, the dental nurse must have accrued at least twenty-four months full-time (or equivalent part-time) chair-side experience.
The qualification will not be awarded until the certified completion of the stipulated twenty-four months.
